Google now showing Google Docs the iPhone love

In a previous post we mentioned that Google was slowly showing some of their online apps some iPhone love. In a nutshell this simply means that various online apps are being recoded to recognize when an iPhone is being used to access the tool and then presenting the application and in a format that better displays the content on the iPhone screen. In that previous post we mentioned how much we would like to see Google add this feature to Google Docs. Well today we browsed over to the site and lo’ and behold, Google had answered our request. Thanks for giving us a minute Google! Take a look at the screen caps below to see what we mean.

A listing of our documents (names have been brushed out for security)

A shared document

A shared spreadsheet (rotating the iPhone provides a better view)

A published presentation

As you probably noticed, this new iPhone interface is only for viewing documents. There are no editing tools available…yet. But we’ll keep checking back and let you know if these tools should appear. A great tool for sharing and accessing your documents on the go. Yet another reason to give Google documents a minute or two of your time and another reason why we use Google docs for all of our documents.
